One of last year’s most significant European game music events was the Scandinavian PLAY! A Video Game Symphony concerts. Thanks to the courtesy of producer Jason Michael Paul, I had the opportunity to attend March 20th’s Oslo show. My trip to the Norwegian capital city had a clear goal: I sought to determine how PLAY! - one of the most popular international game music tours - continues to persevere and cope with the growing pressure from competitors like Video Games Live and Distant Worlds.
My thoughts and observations can be found in the Olso concert report. Additionally, I had the opportunity to interview Jason Paul before the show, and the chance to chat with video game music composer Joel Eriksson (mostly known from his Battlefield 1942 OST) after the event. This material from Oslo is exclusive, as GameMusic.net was the only media outlet accredited for the concert. As the event occurred a few months ago, the report and interviews are an archive update. Nonetheless, we encourage you to take a look - all three texts are worth it!
nice read ;p
