The immensely popular and award winning Castlevania video game series has always been known for it's superior music. These famed songs will be celebrated at the Stockholm Concert Hall (Konserthuset) on February 19th at 7 p.m. The show, led by David Westerlund, will feature the Stockholm Youth Symphony orchestra, a rock band, singers, and The Grand Organ, among others.
This historic event will also be attended by series composer Michiru Yamane (Symphony of the Night OST, Lament of Innocence OST etc.), who is flying in from Japan. She will not only attend the concert and meet with fans, but will also perform some of her own music, live on stage! Old master Johann Sebastian Bach will even be featured, as a piece of his appears in the Game Boy version of Castlevania II!
The concert is arranged by Levande Musik Sverige, in co-operation with David Westerlund, a musician and gamer educated at the Royal College of Music, Sweden. We recently had the opportunity to talk with David, so check out our interview to learn even more about the upcoming concert!
Also, be sure to visit castlevaniaconcert.com for ticket details and more information about the people behind this project. A special team of editors from GameMusic.net, Innerworld.pl, and Castlevania.innerworld.pl will attend the show, and will publish a detailed concert report, as well as an interview with Michiru Yamane, in the next month. If you can, make plans to attend the show – it's said to be the most spectacular game music concert ever created!
Cool idea for game music concert! But February must be quite cold in Sweden ;)
